India reaches out to Polish investors in Torun region



Warsaw, March 6, 2015: India's Ambassador reached out to Polish companies in the Torun region and invited them to manufacture in India using Polish technologies. Torun, the city where Nicolas Copernicus, “stopped the Sun and moved the Earth”, is a vibrant centre of economic and business activity. Torun, hosted the 22nd edition of the Economic Forum titled, ‘’Integration and Cooperation – Innovation’’. The inaugural session moderated by the former Polish Prime Minister Mr Jerzy Buzek, was attended by Ambassador of India, Mr. Ajay Bisaria and President of Indo-Polish Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IPCCI), Mr J.J. Singh, apart from Polish government dignitaries and the top management of prominent companies like PESA (Rail Vehicles), Budimex(Construction), and Kapsch(Telematic Services).

2. Participating in a panel discussion, Ambassador Bisaria made a presentation on the ‘’Make in India’’ campaign and invited Polish companies to manufacture in India. He said that the Indian economy was on a high GDP growth path of around 8 percent and would soon be on the trajectory of 10 percent growth. Ambassador invited Polish companies and businesses to look at the tremendous opportunities offered by new programmes like Make in India, Digital India, Skill India, Clean Ganga and Smart Cities, to invest and manufacture in India.

3. The Embassy team also made a presentation to the largest Polish investor in India, TZMO, manufacturer of hygiene products with manufacturing facilities in the southern Indian city of Chennai. TZMO, which has investments of over US$ 30 million in India represents a successful example of a Polish company that has made in India. Ambassador Bisaria made a detailed presentation to the board of the company on the fresh opportunities in India.

The Embassy team including President of the Poland-India Business Council (PIBC), Mr Rao Maddukuri, also visited the facilities and board of Poland's largest manufacturer of rolling stock PESA, in Bydgoszcz. In a presentation to the company, Ambassador Bisaria mentioned the opportunities in the 100 smart cities coming up in India for urban and sub-urban transport solutions. PESA will seriously look into these opportunities available in India.
