International Day of Yoga will come to Poland this summer
The first “International Day of Yoga’’, which will be globally observed on June 21, will be celebrated with large public events in Poland. This was revealed at a ‘Make in India Evening’ on March 23, by Indian Ambassador Ajay Bisaria, who told a select audience of Polish media, businesses, officials and Indian diaspora, that special public events in Warsaw, and in other Polish cities, will mark this celebration in Poland. The International Day of Yoga was declared by the United Nations at India’s request, to celebrate the ancient Indian heritage of Yoga, which has brought good health and bliss to millions across the world. Yoga is an ancient Indian gift to mankind, which stimulates body, mind and spirit and uplifts human consciousness.
The launch of the preparations for the June event in Poland was accompanied by a special ‘yoga dance’, performed by the Warsaw-based Mohini group led by Kinga Malec. A film on yoga and its global connect was also shown on the occasion. Ambitious plans are being drawn to celebrate the special day by the Embassy of India, the Indian community in Poland and the Art of Living Foundation, together with a vast network of Polish ‘Friends of Yoga’. Details of the public events will shortly be available on the website of the Indian Embassy.
