The President of Lithuania received letters of credence from Indian ambassador
Friday, April 10, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from Ambassador Ajay Bisaria of the Republic of India.
The President and the Ambassador discussed Lithuania-India relations and opportunities to develop economic cooperation.
According to the President, the economic ties between Lithuania and India are not yet very intensive, but Lithuania is interested in exports to this country. High technologies are one of the most perspective fields of cooperation. Laser exports to India increased fourfold in 2014. Bilateral cooperation could also be reinforced in education, tourism and film industry sectors. Ambassador also called on Mr Neris Germanas, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, and discussed bilateral cooperation matters.
The Ambassador, born 1962, studied in Kolkata and Princeton, earned a master’s degree in public policy. He embarked on his diplomatic career in 1987, worked in embassies in Moscow and Berlin and in the World Bank in Washington. Before his appointment as ambassador, he was joint secretary for Eurasia at the Ministry of External Affairs of India for five years. Ajay Bisaria is India’s ninth ambassador to Lithuania. The diplomat resides in Warsaw.
