Yogi Ambassadors appointed in Poland

 

Natalia Przybysz, Edyta Hebus, and Malgorzata Pieczynska, prominent Polish cultural personalities and dedicated practioners of yoga, became Ambassadors for the International Yoga Day [June 21] in Poland. This was announced at a press meeting in Warsaw on April 16, when the three Ambassadors spoke of their love for Yoga.

June 21 has been declared the International Day of Yoga (IDY) by the United Nations. This year, the day will be celebrated globally with the theme, ‘Yoga for peace within and for peace in the world.’ Briefing the media on the event, India’s Ambassador to Poland, Mr. Ajay Bisaria said that there was deep interest in yoga among the people of Poland, as evidenced by the large number of yoga groups and yoga classes in Warsaw and other Polish cities. On the preparations for the event, he said that an organising committee of very enthusiastic volunteers had been formed to oversee the preparations for the event in Warsaw. The programme for the event on June 21 will include yoga lessons, a talk on yoga, yoga for different age groups, cultural programmes and different stalls with activities related to health, wellness and peace.

The preparations for the event are picking up rapidly. Those interested in participating in the event or in offering suggestions, could contact any of the members of the Organising Committee (OC) members. Ambassador of India Mr. Ajay Bisaria will be the Patron and First Secretary at the Embassy Mr. G.R. Meena will be an Advisor to the Organising Committee.

Guidelines

  1. The IDY may be celebrated at a public venue on Sunday, June 21, to spread awareness about yoga. The theme of the event would be, ‘Yoga for peace within and for peace in the world.’
  2. A demonstration of yoga may be organised from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. at the venue chosen for the IDY. An instructional DVD will be made available by the Embassy.
  3. Other events could be worked out based on local interest and conditions.
  4. The Embassy will make available three short films on yoga for different age groups.
  5. A logo and tagline for IDY will be made available by the Embassy.
