Guidelines for celebrating the International Day of Yoga

The Indian Embassy in Poland, along with the Organising Committee for the International Day of Yoga (IDY) is deeply thankful to the large number of individuals, clubs and groups that have expressed interest in this celebration of IDY on June 21. To facilitate the celebrations in different cities and to give them a common character, the following set of guidelines may be useful:

  1. A Yoga demonstration could be held along with group participation at 8:30 a.m. based on the attached ‘Common Yoga Protocol’, which describes some basic Asanas which should last about 35 minutes.
  2. A talk on Yoga could be organised subsequently by a knowledgeable expert from 09:15 to 10:00.
  3. The event may be held in a public place with due permission from the relevant authorities and may be open and inclusive.
  4. The celebrations of Yoga for the day should leave the visitors with an interest in Yoga that they may want to pursue beyond IDY.
  5. Cultural programmes based on local resources and interests may be organised.
  6. The logo for the IDY may be used in promotion material.
  7. The website of the International Day of Yoga is www.iyogaday.org and the International Yoga Day in Poland is www.dzienjogi.pl. These websites may be used for getting material for use.
  8. Members of the Organising Committee may be consulted for any clarifications. The contact details of members are as follows:
